The game introduced a more sophisticated web-swinging system than its predecessor. Spider-Man could launch webs from either hand using two separate buttons, and pressing both together provided a speed boost. Importantly, the game required players to attach webs to actual buildings—players needed to be below the skyline to swing, adding realism and skill to traversal.
