The film picks up after the events of the first movie. Ip Man and his family flee Japanese-occupied Foshan and arrive penniless in 1950s British-controlled Hong Kong. His goal is to open a martial arts school, but he immediately faces a corrupt group of local masters led by Master Hung (played by the legendary Sammo Hung). Things escalate further when a racist British boxing champion, "The Twister," publicly humiliates Chinese martial arts, forcing Ip Man to defend the honor of his nation and his art in a brutal, no-holds-barred match.
