To activate Tableau without an internet connection, you must manually transfer an activation file between your offline machine and a computer with web access. Step 1: Create an Activation Request Open or Tableau Prep . Select Help > Manage Product Keys . Click Activate and enter your product key. Tableau will detect you are offline. Click Save to create an offline.tlq file. Move this file to a USB drive. Step 2: Generate the Activation File Go to a computer with internet access. Open the Tableau Activation Page . [1] Select the Offline Activation option. Upload your offline.tlq file. Download the resulting activation.tlf file. Copy this file back to your USB drive. Step 3: Complete Activation Return to your offline computer . Copy the activation.tlf file to your desktop. Double-click the file to run it. Restart Tableau to finalize the process. 💡 Key Reminders

The Tableau activation website will process your request and generate a response file. After a few moments, you will be prompted to download an activation response file, named activation.tlf . Save this file to your USB drive.

Copy the newly created offline.tlq file onto the external storage device.
