The number of stages and missions required to complete the Shadow Wars was significantly reduced, making the journey to the game's true ending much more reasonable and less repetitive. As a reward for completing the reformed Shadow Wars, players earned powerful new gear pieces, including several unique masks with special effects. For example, the makes Waters of Lórien and Spectral Dash cost no Focus, while the Mask of the High King causes Raise Dead to summon Gondorian Wights. These were all retroactively awarded to players who had already finished the epilogue prior to the update.
