This mode adapts the extrusion distance based on the surrounding geometry. Rather than extruding a fixed distance across the whole face, it can follow the contour of adjacent edges or geometry, making it excellent for adding filigree or adding swept geometry along the borders of a selected region.

Fix: This happens when the underlying geometry has irregular topology or internal faces. Clean up your mesh using native tools or plugins like CleanUp3 before applying Joint Push Pull. You can also try switching from "Joint" mode to "Vector" mode to force linear alignment. Joint Push Pull Sketchup 2021
