The Samsung Galaxy Tab A6 (2016) is a budget tablet crippled by its original Android 5.1.1 or 6.0.1 TouchWiz firmware. Unlike its Exynos cousin (SM-T285), the uses a Spreadtrum SC8830/SC9830 SoC. Critical finding: No fully stable Android 9/10/11 custom ROM exists. The only viable custom firmware is an unofficial LineageOS 14.1 (Android 7.1.2) build, which suffers from hardware acceleration bugs.
After successfully installing TWRP, you'll have a fully functional custom recovery. A frequent problem is the "Custom Binary Blocked by FRP Lock" error. If you encounter this, simply remove your Google account and any screen lock (PIN, pattern, password) from the tablet before you begin, then re-enter Download Mode. This should disable the FRP flag.
