UN special procedures—independent human rights experts with thematic or country-specific mandates—have increasingly addressed human rights issues relating to sexual orientation, gender identity, and intersex status. The ILGA World Database provides a comprehensive legal framework for all UN member states, covering ratification of human rights treaties and UN human rights procedures.
