Modern emulation has evolved beyond simple .zip files, which often require full extraction before playing, causing delays.

A standard dual-layer Wii game disc has a maximum capacity of 8.5 GB, but many games don't use anywhere near that much space. The remaining space on the disc is often filled with dummy or "garbage" data. This is why a full, uncompressed .ISO image of a game will always appear to be 4.37GB or 8.5GB in size, regardless of the game's actual content.

The problem? Most Wii games do not actually contain 4.37 GB of data.

Smaller files take less time to transfer to USB drives for Homebrew channel usage.
