Kasumi is a kunoichi of the Mugen Tenshin Ninja Clan, a teenage ninja princess known as the "Kunoichi of Destiny". Born to Shiden and Ayame, she is second-in-line to lead her clan, after her older brother, Hayate. Her life, however, is thrown into turmoil when her rogue uncle, Raidou, attacks the village, leaving Hayate comatose. In a desperate act to avenge her brother and restore his honor, Kasumi defies her clan's laws, abandoning her home to pursue Raidou. This act brands her a "nukenin" (a runaway ninja), marking her for death by her own people. This personal sacrifice, mirrored by fan creations that find new ways to engage with her character, is what makes the keyword "Rebirth" so meaningful.
